For the first
time, I am exhibiting two pieces of art in the JRAC
annual members exhibition. I joined JRAC this year
and look forward to meeting other local artists and
participating in many more shows with them.

THE ARTIST'S HORSE AS MUSE
ONLINE EXHIBITION
I have three works of art
included in the Equine Art Guild online exhibition,
The Artist's Horse As Muse", including a new
painting that was created especially for this
exhibit.
In addition to creating
artwork of a horse which had inspired them, each
artist wrote a short paragraph or two telling about
their special horse. This very special exhibit can
be seen until September 1 here
and after that in the gallery archives.
AAEA
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
December
2006
The artist is
pleased to announce that she has been accepted for
associate membership in The American Academy of
Equine Art. This prestigious organization was
founded by ten of the finest equine atists in
America in 1980 and is partially modelled after the
Royal Academy of Arts in London. It's purpose is to
promote the academic representation of the horse
through education and to promote an appreciation of
contemporary equine art as a legitimate genre of
the fine arts.
SEPTEMBER
2005
The September
issue of the Swedish magazine Hastfocus (Horse
Focus) featured the painting, "Forever Friesian" on
the cover and includes a two page article inside
with more of my art and a lovely write up about my
work and life.
This is my
first international magazine cover and article
which is quite a thrill! An equine artist friend
was kind enough to translate the article so that I
could enjoy it too. Thanks Leena!
ART AT
THE CLASSIC
Sept. 15-18,
2005
"Kentucky
Dreamer" won third place in the drawing category at
the juried art show, Art at The Classic at the
annual Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley,
California.
This is the
first time I've entered this show, and I'm thrilled
to have won an award in one of the most prestigious
equine art shows in the USA.
Last year
"Dreamer" went to the AAEA (American Academy of
Equine Art) annual Fall juried show at The Kentucky
Horse Park.
HTA ART
SHOW
Sept. 26-30,
2005
Harness
Tracks of America accepted the award-winning oil
painting, "Evening Glow" for inclusion in the
annual HTA Scholarship Art Show and Auction. The
painting was auctioned to the highest bidder on
October 1, 2005 at the Tattersalls Sales Pavilion,
The Red Mile, Lexington, Kentucky. It has gone to a
new home in New Jersey.
This is the
first time I've been accepted into this popular
juried show of primarily harness racing artwork and
I'm hoping it won't be the last. I have more
harness racing works planned for next year's
entries.
JULY

HORSE SHOWS
BY THE BAY
DRESSAGE
BY THE BAY
Last year was
the first year for Horse Shows By The Bay and 2005
was the first year for Dressage By The Bay at a new
show grounds near Traverse City Michigan. These are
quality shows drawing entries from all over the
United States and are sure to grow in coming years.
It is
exciting to have shows of this calibre "in my
backyard" finally, and I made the most of the
opportunity. With my new Canon 20D digital camera,
I photographed hunters, jumpers, kids and ponies
and dressage horses and captured many awesome
images. I can't wait to begin turning them into new
paintings and drawings!
